I am doing a survey on the Holocaust. Can anyone help me think of some questions to ask? I am stuck!?

The survey needs to be carefully constructed in order to give useable results. The questions need to be unbiased and worded so that everyone I ask will be able to answer the question clearly. Most questions should have answer options, rather than being open-ended; this will allow me to group answers together for better understanding.

I am doing a survey on the Holocaust. Can anyone help me think of some questions to ask? I am stuck!?

The rest would depend on how you're measuring intelligence, whether it be by acomplishments, IQ, etc.....

What is the ballpark cost for a boundary survey? I am getting one in the next couple weeks. How do I know if I am getting a good surveyor? What do I look for? Will a boundary survey resolve issues with neighbors that claim parts of my yard are their property? Is there anything that can be done about a neighbor putting their trash (old tires, old bathtub, 2 junk cars, tractor, etc) practically in my backyard? He claims it is his land but its past the tree boundaries and into my yard. He also claims the addition on my home is 2 inches from his property line. The other neighbor claims my driveway is on her property as well as the wooden swing. The addition, driveway and swing were put there by the previous owners. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Land Survey questions: would like to know ballpark cost for boundary survey...?
Boundary surveys vary greatly in price, but you can expect to pay at least $1500 for one (probably more if you live more than 25 miles from a surveyor's office). An ALTA survey would be valid for as long as you owned the property. Almost all survey companies do these types of surveys, and nearly all are fairly identical in quality...Ten different survey companies will have the same location of the property line (or within fractions of a milimieter). There are some firms which specialize in doing exactly this sort of thing, you might feel more comfortable using one of them. But nearly all survey firms will do this, and they will nearly all be the same.

Two points to consider.... #1. : Just because there is a treeline, that does not necessarily mean that is the property line. Treelines/hedges/etc... do not delineate property lines. They are often very close to the actual lines, but not always. A surveyor can settle once and for all exactly where your land ends and your neighbor's begins (and it will be upheld in court).

#2. : I am not sure what state you live in, but most states have building codes which require all building walls to be at least half a foot from the property line. If any state were different, I would think the distance would be GREATER. That tells me that your nrighbor is probably mistaken about the actual location of the property lines (and perhaps you both are?) Be prepared either way.

Unfortunatley, the only way you can really be sure is hire a surveyor. Encroachment (thats the terms surveyors use when someone else's house or driveway is partially sitting on someone else's property) can be a nasty thing. Even if you are proven right, you would probably have to go to court to have anything done about it. Good luck!
Reply:For a 50 X 120 flat lot and a FEMA elevation certificate I am being charged $2,500. This is located in a small rural town in Washington. This was the cheap bid since the surveying company is also doing work for the city at the same time. The competition wanted $5,000 for the same work. I personally know the surveyors dong the work and the company they work for is an established local company. Like anything, get references - talk to some of their previous customers and ask around. The survey may not completely resolve your issues since it sounds like you have some very difficult neighbors. What it will do is help you if when you have to take them to court to settle your property dispute.

how would you know if he's good- if he's liscenced, he should be capable of doing it correctly. you can ask your friends,"who's a good surveyor?"

putting trash near your property-- some towns have laws against this type of thing. if you are not in city limits, probably nothing you can do, legally. only recourse is tell him it is an eyesore and ask him to move it.

when surveyor marks the lines. neighbors have to abide by them. if they disagree with it, then they have to hire a surveyor and pay him to do it. with today's GPS, the 2 surveys should be within millimeters of each other. if 2 surveyors come up with diffwerent lines, you have to go to court to establish line.

an alternative--ask the neighbors if they will go in with you, hire a surveyor, split cost, everybody agrees to live with what he marks. this would split the costs, show good will, hopefully keep peace.

property disputes can get ugly.
Reply:I would get references from locals in your area. Perhaps there are references and ratings online for surveyors in your area. I live in Las Vegas. The last time I had to hire a surveyor, when I bought my first piece of property, I had to use smoke signals.

Regarding the trash, you'll have to check your county or city ordinances to find out if any laws are being violated. More than likely, there are. In the case of abandoned vehicles, the last registered owner of the vehicles should be responsible.

Building easement ordinances vary from state to state, county to county. This is probably why you need a surveyor. If these building infringements were on the property when you bought it, you'll want to check your purchase contract for any "purchased as is" clauses. Someone might have just wanted to sell the property just to get out from under that.

Laws in your state might give you certain rights. I don't even know where you live. I haven't checked your profile. I would consult with a real estate attorney.

I'm a childcare provider, wanting feed back from parents to ensure they are happy with the care they are receiving at this time, as well as new services that are to be offered in the near future. Allowing them a voice without the worry of hurting feelings. I would like to get their true input.

I would list a few open ended questions like

What services and activities do you think are the most beneficial to your child/children?

What services and activities do you think are the least beneficial to your child/children?

What changes would you make to the program?

What suggestions do you have to improve the quality of care your child receives?

What comments do you have either positive or negative about the program?

Also, you might think about making it anonymous.
Reply:I would say invite your parents in during a week and allow them to observe what is going on. I'm guessing that most of them have no idea what is going on unless there is an accident. This will help them fill out the questionnaire and be more helpful. Also it would be good to create an open door policy with a comment box for parents. Its easier to get feedback when the parent is thinking about it than several months later when they are asked. Breaking the questions up into specific sections as in child specific, center specific, activity specific, playgroup specific, and meal specific. Make sure that they don't put their names on the sheets, this will encourage them to be more truthful.

-Do our hours of operation generally work for your schedule?

-Does the facility keep things sanitary enough?

-Are children encouraged to use proper hand-washing procedures before eating and after using the restroom?

-Is your child genuinely happy in the program?

-Do you consider the toys and activities to be age appropriate?

-Is your child's primary provider friendly with you and your child at arrival and departure?

-Do you see the need for any improvements/changes in the staff, meals, activities or discipline?

-Does the staff follow their classroom rules and daily schedule?

-Is your child encouraged to express their feelings and work toward a solution during a problem?

Reply:1) I don't know, I haven't seen the movie.

2) It varies depending on the person and his/her families. I was 15 when I came out, some of my friends were in their twenties when they came out, and my one friends dad was married and 2 kids before he came out. Some people never come out.

3) Some parents put their personal beiefs before their own children, which I think is sick. They let their fears, disappointment, etc... over-ride their for their children. That's a fate that no teen should suffer.

4) Because its so much healthier for a person to be themselves than try to someone that they're not. Coming out is a tough decision, and any in that process needs all the love and support that the can get.

5) talk to their teens, get to know their friends and significant others, get involved and take an interest in their extracurricular activities, etc...same as any other teen

6) Maybe their religion conflicts with their sexuality, self-resentment because of the reactions of friends or family, they might face harassment at school or work, they may feel alone and unable to identify with peers

I have a web site on a dedicated Linix server with PHP and PERL ability. I am looking for an inexpensive 3rd party solution or a public GNU PERL or PHP script.

In that case you have one option you can send link to your survey page in the mail and people will visit that page by clicking the link in the mail. That is 1 option. For that you need to host that survey page on your website and then need to store that survey information in your database.

Showing whole survey page in email looks bit difficult option.

You may achive it using %26lt;iframe%26gt; tag.

But in both case that PHP survey page will be stored on your server/website.

If you find any difficulty in coding that PHP script you can use softwares like PHP Runner or PHPMaker which will make your task easy.

i mean how do they want us to answer these survey questions? i.e. your surpervisor does something how do you react.. have you ever stole etc? truthfully, idealistically or both? how do places like target, mervyn's and other retail stores 'judge' you? based on what criteria? obviously a person can just bullshit their way through the survey. i think they're useless in comparison to the interview and past references and level of education you have or drug tests. how perfect can you be for minimum wage? any advice on how to answer them?

These tests are psychological examinations. They test for a bunch of different things. Your best bet is to bs the important ones and answer some of the little ones truthfully. These test are only answer based and result in a score # or a light system(red, yellow, green). You don't have to be perfect but too many wrong answers will be weeded out.
Reply:my take on it is that they try to see if your honest so that they can disadvantage you when you get the job. and refuse to hire you if your not.

Reply:The stores take the test you wrote, run it through a machine and if you get a high score you get hired, usually after a reference check, some of the tests are personality tests, eg if you are going to work in customer service, but answer the questions idealistically, never say its ok to take company property, or that you think its ok to quit for a better job, etc. pay attention to the wording and you should be fine

Being from the South (USA) we got the reputation as racist and that is some what true but today with the number of Black owned business as well as the Black leadership in government the racist lable is fading,yes crys of racisum abounds still but is mainly used as a scape goat answer or reaction to a situation.

This whole thing might seem creepy, but I'm asking because I want to survey grassroots and high school volleyball across the country and I think we have a good mix of youth here.

Im conducting an experiment, and I have almost everything I need in order to complete my experiment, but I also want to ask a survey to see if the questions I ask effect the answer of the person give according to the paper. I've researched for sample questions I can ask but im still having a lot of trouble.. can anyone offer some good advice for questions.. I would appreciate it greatly..

What kind of questions should I ask on a survey, to determine if color affects peoples moods?
If you are able to determine someone's mood from answers they give (Ex. "Do you normally visit the movies alone, yes/no why? Yes because I am a loner." You could probably guess they're depressed) then you can make the questions whatever color you like (as in the actual words in the question you would make yellow or whatever instead of the default black). So for the example question you could make it blue to see if you get alot of depressed answers.

You could also make all the questions someone gets one color and then give another person all their questions in a different color.

mmmk I have finally selected a topic for my persuasive speech.... rapists are as just bad as murderers and should have the same punishments... however now I need to make an 8 ? yes/no survey on it.... so far I have 5 questions... I need 3 more... and I can't think of any others... so far I have:

1. No. Unless the rapist killed afterwards, then you're still alive. Life goes on. Don't live in the past.

2. No. What would that do? You cannot reform someone's mind if they are not willing to let it be reformed. Punishing them further is done purely out of your frustration, which stems from the aforementioned fact.

3. No... rape, for some people, is a turn-on taboo. The idea of partaking in non-consensual or even semi-consensual sex is something people fantasize about. There are certain masochists out there who yearn for such pain. Of course, this would be fantasy vs. reality. Fetishes vs. an actual rape occurring are different.

hi all -- I'm a high school student (17/f/half japanese) in north cali, I'm taking some classes this summer at the junior college before my senior year in high school. I have an assignment about welfare for one class and wanted to ask some single moms. My daddy says that 98% of single moms are on welfare at one point or another, so here goes:

1) When you were on welfare, what did you think of people like me that drive shiny new cars? (I drive an Acura if that helps.)

2) Where there any things you did while on welfare that you swear you will never do again? Did you do anything that in retrospect surprised yourself?

3) Did you get more pregnant while on welfare?

4) If you ever got off welfare, was it because you were kicked off?

Reply:I've never been on welfare, the only assistance I've had is $46/mo foodstamps for the first 10 months of my child's life and medicaid to help pay for his first year check-ups.

1) I don't really care. It's their money, if they want to blow it on a car (and probably make monthly payments), that's perfectly fine with me. I'm just grateful that I had a reliable vehicle that I paid for up front before I got pregnant.

2) No. Again, I only had foodstamps and medicaid, and with the foodstamps, I spent them only on healthy/staples kind of food. I was surprised at how resourceful I could be, and that I really can learn to cook if I'm sort of forced to. :)

3) No.

4) I got off foodstamps when the certified 'term' "ended". All that means is I just have to update them on my income, address, etc to get re-certified, but I chose not to because by then, I didn't feel like I needed it, I was given more hours at work, and $46/mo wasn't worth the hassle.

I did not have any more children because I knew I couldn't afford it and that is my number one issue with welfare moms - why do they keep getting pregnant (with birth control so readily available) knowing they can't provide and justifying it by telling themselves they will get more welfare money - it's the tax payers that are paying for these kids and quite frankly - they still aren't living the best life as poverty will always be what they know as they see their mom (or dad) doing nothing to better themselves or being absent. The cycle then continues. I say, after 2 kids, no additional money should be given to these irresponsible women.

Reply:I will have to disagree with the other guy. Self employment is not stress free. You still have to worry about getting the job done in order to get paid, but you don't get any of the benefits such as paid time off or insurance!

I work in accounting, and my job is not stress free. However, since I like where I work, it's all fine and good. I would recommend finding your passion and going from there. For example if you like cooking, be a chef, if you like kids, be a teacher....ect.

2. when i go plinking, too many stupid laws, if you own guns in California, you will be treated unfairly. I'm getting outta here. Idaho or Texas, or colardo (any state within 1000 miles and Alaska, except for Hawaii)

3. if you can afford it, its good to conserve. but banning bags or taking expensive moves to be more eco-friendly is going too far. While you can afford it, it doesn't mean students on a 20k a year budget can. with extremely high prices on housing and fuel, people who make less the 50k a year struggle to pay all the bills and still save some money. It just so happens half the state makes under 50k.

What that has already been done is great, promotion of CFLs, the use of biodiesel (diesel cars are nearly banned in California), public transportation using natural gas, and various other programs like California CRV (that no one really know about).

What we could do to better the environment is to offer low cost or nearly "free" artificial turf in place of grass. grass is water consuming and wasteful of water. New nuclear power plants is also something that I'd like. They're clean and efficient, why not?

offering discounts on any ULEV or car over 40 mpg is also something that would be cool, which it promote people to buy more fuel sippy cars or a car that outputs very little emissions.

1. Yes, I definitely think that Bella will become a vampire. I also think she won't like human blood due to her extreme reaction to it as a human (fainting) and that she'll have extraordinary powers as a vampire due to her resistance to powers as a human. If these traits are intensified as a vampire, she could be powerful indeed. I surely think that Stephenie Meyer would want us to see that part of the story.

2. Of course I don't want her to end up with Jacob. For one thing, that would make the ending to the story quite boring, and for another, they aren't soul mates like her and Edward. He could imprint at any moment on some random girl and leave her hanging high and dry with no where to go. Of course she has to end up with Edward. I think that the series will conclude with Bella and Edward happily married and Jacob imprinted on another girl we haven't met yet in the books.

I am a romance writer as well as a reader. I am curious about a plot question. Do you as a romance reader prefer plot where the girl has to compete with or is the one suffering jealousy because of a female who is after her man or do you prefer a plot where the guy has to compete or is jealous of another mans attentions to the female in the book? I personally prefer it when the man is the jealous one. For me I find that much more of a good read than if it is the other way around. What are your views on this?

Why don't you write the one you prefer, then when you are done, get started on the other, just to see where it takes you?

Research some true crime literature. See if you can find any instances where a female used violence or broke the law to put her opponent at a disadvantage. That could be interesting.

I am not in this field but I think you have to determine wheather mental illness is a precursor to antisocial behaviour. Firstly be defining them both. If interviewing mentally ill. You may ask separate scale questions of how often do you do these behavours, listing the behaviour you consider antisocial, take drug, drink, be violent and such. I think you would also have to establish how mentally ill the person is. This may include criteria, Like, How many times have you been hospitalised? Are you on medication?and such so you aim to establish the more mentally ill they are the greater the number of behaviours they will have. I hope I have help, once again I am not in this field.
Reply:Agoraphobia most people with mental illness does not start out with something so sever as agoraphobia and this is a very antisocial mental disorder my mother has it but did not start out with it she will not even leave her house without someone she trusts mostly me I have to even talk for her in doctors offices so i think this would be a very good topic not a lot of people are aware of just how bad it can be.

Please, take a word of advice from a librarian do not lump horror stories in with science fiction, they are not the same thing! And don't call a fantasy book a science fiction book. Nothing drives me crazier than to find a book based on hard science called a fantasy. Or a totally created universe that isn't based on science called science fiction.
Reply:I like non-fiction. Biographies of historical figures are good. I also enjoy philosphy and psychology books that explore current or long-standing issues. I had trouble finding decent books regarding Buddhism and atheism. I am tired of self-proclaimed experts like Dr. Phil.
Reply:People's tastes and interests vary enormously. There are plenty of books I wouldn't buy but that doesn't mean no-one will. The only works that should not be published are badly written ones. There is no subject that is off limits.

1. I am an Art Director at an advertising agency. My job is unique because I get to work in a completely creative, artistic environment mixed with business. I help create or sustain strategies and brands (etc), and it can be very fulfilling to see it pay off for a business. I get the inside scoop on many types of business, from Mom and Pop's all the way up to Fortune 500 clients.

3. Advertising has a very strong demand for creative, and well communicative people in the day and age we live in. It also is extremely competitive.

4. Usually a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or Business. Mine is in BS in Visual Communication. Kind of a blend of the two. What I do, is not all art per say.

5. Depends on where you're at geographically, how long you've been in the field, and also the size of the business you're employed at. Anywhere from $60,000 – $80,000 up up up

There are so many surveys out there, offering a small incentive may help, for example: if they take the survey they are entered into a contest to win something...etc.

I am a part of a panel of people that take surveys, and there is always some kind of incentive, either a cash amount or a small gift.

#1 : students from 6 - 16 years old were given a test based on their age, and it was found that children with smaller foot were, on the average, only able to answer questions at their level. on the other hand, children with bigger foot, were able to answer their questions faster, and also were able to take on questions meant for higher age groups.

PS - im not here to debate on the topic, im just here to see if anyone capable of logic and fallacies could answer this on an objective level.

2 questions. Qtn 1: A survey reveals that people who have bigger foot are wiser. Qtn 2: from monkeys to human?
#1 The biggest fallacy is that of false assumption. It isn't stated what the test was testing for (intelligence is assumed, but not confirmed). Furthermore, it is assumed that answering questions faster is desirable. And it is assumed that being "able to take on questions meant for higher age groups" is a good thing (it doesn't state how well the children were able to do on those questions).

Additionally, saying "on average" could very well be misleading. Is this mean, median, or mode? Is this variation even significant? Seems like meaningless innuendo.

But then again, all of those are flaws I observed in the survey; you just asked what fallacies were observed in the survey, to which I would point out that there were no such observations in the survey.

#2 This one could have quite a few fallacies all related to the same theme, but I am going to go with false assumption again (though I could make an argument for post hoc ergo propter hoc). Similar things are not necessarily forced to have similar origins. For example, two tables might share much in common (being table shaped, being made out of wood, being finished with a nice cherry stain and lacquer, etc), but that doesn't mean that they came from the same tree, forest, factory, or even continent. To offer an exaggerated example of this statement, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings both use a very large number of the same or similar words; therefore they must have been written by the same author.

Admittedly, I am rather rusty at IDing logical fallacies (alas, I don't even recall all their names correctly). But then again, that might be taken as an appeal to pity logical fallacy itself.

Reply:The first part, it seems to me, most likely indicates that, among people who are still growing (the 6-16 age range cited), those with larger body parts (feet, in this case) are likely to be somewhat more developed than their peers, and therefore might test as somewhat more advanced. Beyond that, I don't see any meaning, because I don't see any basis in the information provided to presume a correlation between foot size and intelligence.

On the second point, the main fallacy I can identify would be the presumption that anyone has put forth the argument you describe. The genetic similarity between humans and other primates (which runs about 90+%, a bit more than "some") is only one element _supporting_ evolutionary theory, not the basis for the theory itself. In fact, that genetic similarity was entirely undiscovered when the various evolutionary theories got their start.

I am the youngest of 2.

I'm married, just celebrated our 18th anniversary and was 19 when we got married.

We have 3 boys and we have no plans for more.

I approve of celibacy for all unmarried persons - but recognize that marriage is a blessing and gift from our Father in Heaven and that intimacy is a wonderful thing between husband %26amp; wife.

On weekends, we often go hiking, fishing or swimming. We also do a lot of sports [especially soccer %26amp; football]. My hubby %26amp; I also take time out for a date every weekend.

Yes, I've seen R rated movies, but not recently. I decided I didn't need the vulgarity, gore %26amp; crudity. I have never smoked.

I spend a lot of time with my family. However, a good rule of thumb for me was the question "Would I still love him and stay with him if he were terminally ill, bedridden, with no chance for sex or meaningful recovery, and would he do the same for me?"

you can ask why people think this is a controversial issue.

If they know what a stem cell really is.

If they know that stem cells come from adults too, not just embryos.

What they think of it and why.
Reply:Is your survey about whether we should continue stem cell research? You could ask how people they feel about it. Or possibly incorporate something involving the Umbillical cord and how they are making advances in technology with it. You should be more specific on what you are aiming to question people on.
