I need to develop a survey with 10 questions on if mental illness causes antisocial behavior? any ideas?

The real question is whether mental illness causes antisocial behavior OR does antisocial behavior cause mental illness?

I need to develop a survey with 10 questions on if mental illness causes antisocial behavior? any ideas?
I am not in this field but I think you have to determine wheather mental illness is a precursor to antisocial behaviour. Firstly be defining them both. If interviewing mentally ill. You may ask separate scale questions of how often do you do these behavours, listing the behaviour you consider antisocial, take drug, drink, be violent and such. I think you would also have to establish how mentally ill the person is. This may include criteria, Like, How many times have you been hospitalised? Are you on medication?and such so you aim to establish the more mentally ill they are the greater the number of behaviours they will have. I hope I have help, once again I am not in this field.
Reply:Agoraphobia most people with mental illness does not start out with something so sever as agoraphobia and this is a very antisocial mental disorder my mother has it but did not start out with it she will not even leave her house without someone she trusts mostly me I have to even talk for her in doctors offices so i think this would be a very good topic not a lot of people are aware of just how bad it can be.
Reply:well antisocial behavior is an illness in its own...see sociopathy/antisocial personality disorder.
Reply:Are you surveying people with, or without mental illnesses?

If you're asking people who have mental illness, some good questions would be:

1. What percentage of people that you come in contact with on a daily basis do you think would understand if you told them about your mental illness?

2. Have you ever explained a mental illness to an employer?

3. Do you feel that it is easier to lie about having a mental illness to people, in certain situations?

Why? (if there's space to explain things)

4. Do you find yourself avoiding public places more because of outward behaviours your mental illness causes?

5. Have any of your existing relationships suffered, percievably because of your mental illness?
